Subclass 417 or 462 visa

What is the difference between 4and 4visa? What are the requirements for a 4work and holiday visa? Visa holders can extend their visa by working in rural (“regional”) areas under certain conditions. Aside from having a passport from one of the eligible countries above, you will need to fulfil a few other criteria in order to apply for either the Subclass 4or Subclass 4visa. The application process for a Subclass 4can be a little more involved and have higher eligibility criteria.


The specific criteria also varies significantly depending on your country of passport. Each applicant should have a passport from a specific eligible country. The age limit for applying for Visa 4is between and years.


If you are from France you can only apply for subclass 417. You cannot apply for subclass 462.

The names may be confusing, but you don’t have to worry about it too much – they have the same requirements more or less, and they afford you the same rights. In contrast, Canadian, French and Irish citizens can apply for the 4subclass if they are between the ages of and 35. Find out if you also need an ABN here.
