Why is everything so expensive

Why is everything so expensive? Why are things more expensive? The effective cost of living also depends on real wages. It is expensive to live in Nordic countries , but real wages tend to be higher.

For items, such as eating out – the US is often cheaper than many European countries, but Americans need to spend much more on private health care insurance. Originally Answered: why is everything so expensive nowadays ? The reason things are more expensive is because new money is continually created. New money is created when loans are made, and this leads to inflation (inflation of the money supply).

But when you adjust for inflation, the cost of most things has actually declined. Consumer prices were up 2. April from a year ago, while suppliers paid 2. Auto loans are getting more expensive because the Federal Reserve is gradually raising interest rates. It is called supply and deman I have it and if you want it, you will pay my price. A while ago in Ireland there was a massive boom time which we now refer to as the Celtic Tiger.

During this period everyone was quite well of and so could afford expensive things. However, due to the Recession now few people can afford. Some categories, such as education, healthcare and childcare, have seen inflation grow anywhere from from to faster than disposable income. We have lots of nannies here, now.

Everything got expensive , as a result. All the corner stores are rip-offs. I pay my cleaning woman $per visit, every two weeks. Though, I’ve asked her to not come during the pandemic.

Parking here is very expensive , if you can get a spot. Heres links of everything I. The same lamb imported from New Zealand or Australia would only be taxed at CHF 0. Another example is seafood. Fish from a long list of countries is duty free, and even when taxe the cost is only CHF 0. But still most seafood is relatively expensive in Switzerland. Rip-off Britain: why is everything so expensive ? Interviews by Merope Mills , Nicole Jackson , Liese Spencer and Becky Barnicoat £6for a face cream, £2for a pair of jeans, £for a bottle.

Ten years ago I was living on my own with fairly low living expenses. A bit of a rant really. Those articles fail to answer two very vital questions: why is everything so expensive , and what can be done about it?

Why is everything so expensive

I am not a student of economics, so I cannot offer an expert opinion on this subject, but my guess is that everything is expensive because the planet is overpopulated: too many people are competing for too few resources. These are not usually tested by us (because there are so many), so please. The dollar was worth less before so everything had to be cheaper.

So it just goes to show what the exchange rate has done. I find the supermarkets really, really grotty too, and smelly and the fact that trolleys are either the size of horse trailers or baskets.
