Tenant certificate meaning

What is a tenant estoppel certificate? What does Tenants Association mean? This tenant estoppel certificate is a way to verify the terms of your lease agreement. It lets potential buyers know that you are not misleading them about the rental income they will receive from the property because the tenants have verified the truth of your claims. An estoppel certificate is a document signed by a tenant that states what the current status is on their lease.

In other words, a tenant estoppel is a legal , certified statement made by a tenant during the leasing process. The document (in the form of a letter or certificate) will verify the terms, conditions, and current status of the lease agreement. It’ll also ensure a tenant is legitimate and compliant. A tenant estoppel certificate is used to verify the current status of the tenant and landlord’s rights and obligations under an existing lease when a landlord is seeking a loan on the leased property.


By definition, an estoppel certificate is a “ signed statement by a party certifying for another’s benefit that certain facts are correct , as that a lease exists , that there are no defaults , and that rent is paid to a certain date. A party’s delivery of this statement estops that party from later claiming a different state of facts. What Will The Estoppel Letter Include? The tenant estoppel letter will vary.
