We no longer encourage Australians to register overseas travel with Smartraveller (DFAT). The next series of passports will not include a reference to registration. We encourage you to leave your itinerary and contact details with your family, friends or employer and stay in touch when you’re overseas. Registering allows the Australian government to keep track of you, so they can contact you if there is an attack or natural disaster in a part of the world you are travelling to.

Embassy or Consulate. There, you will enter basic information about yourself, your trip, and your emergency contact people. You’ll have the choice of registering just one trip, or creating an account so you can easily register future trips. Who is eligible for STEP? S citizens travelling or living abroad. The Pacific cyclone season began on November and runs until April. New Zealanders travelling to the Pacific are encouraged to register their details with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Just like making sure you’ve had the right immunisations and vaccinations and that you have travel insurance, registering should be on your list of things to do before you leave home. Biometric registration is an ideal solution if you’ve been a Smart-ID user before and need to register (or renew) an account, but can’t use your ID-card or Mobile-ID. You need an NFC-enabled smart device, the latest version of Smart-ID app and a passport or ID-card with an electronic chip. Registration is free, the process is easy to follow and all New Zealand citizens and their families are entitled to.

You agree that the information you provide in connection with establishing your account is accurate and that you will keep your information up-to-date.
